Frame & Picture Shoppe’s Kimberley Breil Judges International Print Framing Competition
Frame & Picture Shoppe’s Kimberley Breil was selected to serve as a judge at the International Print Framing Competition held in January 2013 by the Professional Picture Framer’s Assoc. (PPFA). Only three judges from the U.S. are chosen to judge this competition held once a year.
Breil was also chosen for this honor in 2007. The Print Competition involves the framers all framing the same piece. “I find it fascinating to see all the creative designs framers use and how many different ways there are to frame one piece,” said Breil. At this year’s conference (2013), she was able to attend seminars by Hugh Phibbs, the coordinator of Preservation Services at the National Museum of Art, and Ron Stark, “Mickey’s doctor”, a premier authority on the conservation of animation art, among others.
“When framing a piece of artwork, whether for sentimental or decorative reasons, a piece deserves to have conservation framing protecting it, as well as having it presented attractively.”
